About...

This blog will be about what I hear and what I do in the food and wine world. You'll find local foodie updates and some more personal stories of my culinary adventures. A little self indulgent at times? Perhaps. But I want to share my passion for the region and its food and for local and regional small producers, good restaurants and shops wherever I travel to.

wirral farmers market

Wirral FArmers' Market

Been out and about a far bit over the past couple of weeks so a chance to pop in places and try out new things.

Wirral Farmers’ Market went well last weekend and, as ever, picked up some fantastic food. High Seas Seafood are using the expertise of the ever increasing Polish community to pick up some tips on local dishes. So nestled in my fridge for dinner tomorrow are ‘perogie’ – I’m not sure if that is correct because the perogie I know are Canadian dumplings, but let me know any corrections. Anyway these are salmon and dill in little dumplings so I am looking forward to trying them as they are apparently a traditional dish.

Hello Anne

Im writing the food and drink listings for Liverpool.com and wondered if you would be able to point me in the right direction towards including more farmers markets ? We include the main ones in Merseyside, but it would be great to feature more in North East Wales and Cheshire, do you know of any ?

Thanks for your time
(this is more of a general enquiry rather than a comment !)

Kind Regards
Katie

There are great farmers' markets in the North West.
If you looking in Cheshire. Check out Made in Cheshire, they are great at supporting local producers and list local farmers' markets.

For Wales there is Celyn Farmers' Market held at Northop which is only a short trip from Merseyside. www.celynfarmersmarket.co.uk

Or check out www.fmiw.co.uk which lists farmers' market across Wales.

Ann is that you - with the long blond hair - you look different from the long time ago I saw you in Barrow. If it is great site and if you want to after all this time drop me a line at my email. I have been the food and wine writer with the Evening Mail for almost five years now and love it. Hope to hear from you soon Susan G
