About...

annebenson.jpg

This blog will be about what I hear and what I do in the food and wine world. You'll find local foodie updates and some more personal stories of my culinary adventures. A little self indulgent at times? Perhaps. But I want to share my passion for the region and its food and for local and regional small producers, good restaurants and shops wherever I travel to.

F word; New Dish

New dish for Liverpool - the battle is on

The F Word - what is that all about

Burgers on CityTalk

Has Gordon Ramsey lost it? Well frankly I would have to say yes.
The F Word was always one of those irritating shows that you had to watch like an accident wiaiting to happen.
Hey I was nearly in the audience last year, but the producers messed us around but now! It is just a stupid parody.
Why does he feel it necessary to be so rude and horrible about other TV chefs and writers; he is obviously trying to find a new campaign and this one is failing horribly. Just like his dreadful PR attempt at the end of last week to gain publicity for his idea that chefs should be fined for not serving seasonal food. A ridiculous idea as Oliver Peyton eloquently showed on PM.
I was driving trhough Leeds at the time and the choice of restaurants is stupendous and the range of food produce just wonderful. I rave about local, sseasonal produce all the time, but a lot of restaurants are not aiming at that audience and we need to have that choice of flavours, with different types of food.
In other news the New Dish for Liverpool is nearing its finale, with the big cook-off on Monday. This week CityTalk is featuring each chef on its breakfast programme so listen out between 8:30am and 9am.
Or check out the facebook group for new dish for Liverpool and let me know your views. It is NOT I keep stressing about replacing Scouse it is about celebrating and enjoying the great restaurants and skilled chefs we have in the city.
Also I have agreed to go on CityTalk on Thursday to talk about burgers – where do you think the best burgers in the city can be found?
